Some of my most recent exterior shots pulled from my Instagram feed. May include drone and twilight photos, too.
Exteriors are what used to be called curb appeal and were the only photograph that ever appeared in the weekly real estate supplement in your local newspaper. If they even had photographs. Back in my dad’s day he said they’d just have the address, pull out a map (a paper one!) and drive by to see if they liked the house.
And here’s where I’m going to make a plug for real estate photography. To a degree.
Real estate photography is very important — over 90% of all real estate searches now start online. However, it’s not going to sell the house. The house is going to sell the house. The photos, however, will get boots in the door to see the house.
The house isn’t just the house. The house is also the property, the neighborhood, how weird or well the streets in the area are laid out. How far the grocery store is and whether or not you have to make a weird left turn to get there. These are the kinds of things that people will learn only by going to the property and they won’t get that from photos or video or Matterport.
