Other Charges

There are other charges that can come up, too.

Mileage

I’m reasonable. I’ll travel most anywhere. But if I’m travelling an hour each way to a photoshoot that’s time I could be spending doing another photoshoot. So my basic range is 30 miles each way. Anything above that is charged $1/mile each way. 40 miles from my home base of El Dorado Hills? $20 (10 miles each way). Simple enough.

Cancellation Fee

I understand that things happen that are out of your control. However, if I’ve reserved a spot for you that means I’ve probably turned down other work that I could have done at that same time, so there’ll be a cancellation fee if you leave me hanging.

If you cancel or postpone a shoot with less than 24-hours notice you will be charged a fee of $150. A postponement I’ll add the fee to your bill. A cancellation I’ll bill you right away.

I really try to be lenient and understanding about this, but I’m a business. I’m guessing your home inspector charges a cancellation fee, too.

No-Show Fee

If I show up and have no way to get into the property — no one there, no lockbox code, no door code, etc. — same as a last-minute cancelation or postponement: $150.

Late Fees

I’m not all that prompt at even sending out invoices, so you really have no excuse to not pay me within 30 days. We’re all adults.

30 days after invoicing I’ll add a $25 charge to the invoice. Every 30 days after that I’ll add another $25. At some point I’ll just take it up with your broker or write it off as bad debt.

Deposit

New clients or clients who are notoriously late with payment will be charged a deposit of $200 to reserve a time.
