About Me

Me
Don’t worry: There aren’t 4 of me.

The law requires that I have a page dedicated to talking about me.

So it seems.

I’ve been doing this for quite awhile now, first in Colorado and now in El Dorado County in Northern California.  I got into this because so much of real estate photography just sucked.  And, frankly, taking pictures of humans is a pain.

Why Houses

As I tell people when they ask why I photograph houses, houses never ask to look thinner, never hit you with sticks, never cry or puke, and they don’t get angry at you for not taking a picture of their drunken uncle doing his flying squirrel impersonation at the reception.

I photograph somewhere between 300 and 400 real estate listings every year for about a hundred-and-fifty different agents, and they represent independent offices as well as every major real estate brand: Berkshire-Hathaway, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, eXp, Intero, Keller Williams, Lyon, ReMax, and Sotheby’s.  I also work for many independent agents — I call them Browncoats (and if you get the reference, that’s shiny).

There are probably a dozen different builders, interior designers, and architects who also hire me fairly regularly.

I do all my own work — photography and editing.  I don’t have a team of photographers out in the field taking pictures.  I’m also a bit of a control-freak when it comes to my images, so I don’t want to farm those out to some editing shop overseas.

Equipment

I’d list my equipment but it changes.  I have a variety of cameras for different situations; for example, the full frame camera I do interiors with isn’t great for putting atop a 16′ pole.  For doing twilight shots I might have 3 cameras put at different places around your property.  I also break and lose shoot-through umbrellas at an astonishing rate.

I’m very fond of one brand of camera and when they pay me to advertise for them I’ll be more than willing to say their name.

Samples

If you’d like to see samples of my work there’s a gallery including interior and exterior samples as well as a page dedicated to recent twilight shots.
